Established in 2011, Black Letter Communications is a specialist communications agency in the legal market. Our clients range from leading law firms to professional associations, and we have provided media support for lawyers involved in some of the most high-profile cases, such as the Covid-19 Inquiry, Croydon tram crash inquest and the Post Office Horizon scandal.

About the role

Due to recent growth, we are now looking for an account executive to join the team. You will be expected to:

  • Consistently deliver high-quality, proactive PR activity and monitor client outputs and outcomes to ensure successful delivery of client strategy and objectives.
  • Develop strong relationships with both clients and journalists at target media.
  • Write press releases, articles, case studies and comments, often at speed, to a specific deadline.
  • Assist with creating new and innovative ideas, driving editorial with content pitches to journalists, press alerts and new campaigns across a range of media.
  • Execute creative projects and liaise with clients regarding delivery and success.
  • Monitor the industry and external climate to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of clients’ markets.
  • Develop and maintain media lists using the Roxhill database.
  • Ensure client reporting is up to date and delivered to a high standard on time.
  • Posting on social media for the agency and for some clients.
  • Brainstorm ideas for fresh content.

 About you

  • A graduate with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • At least four years’ experience working either at a PR agency, or an in-house communications team at a law firm, or as a journalist.
  • Have a solid understanding of how PR and communications works with other marketing disciplines.
  • Able to analyse complex and sometimes technical information and/or data and interpret for a range of audiences.
  • Confident and able to build relationships with clients and journalists.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently.
  • Experience using social media platforms, particularly X and LinkedIn
  • Familiarity with media databases such as Roxhill
  • IT proficient, in particular MS Office applications and social media management tools. Knowledge of WordPress and photo-editing software would be useful.
  • Experience of the legal services market would be highly advantageous.
